MET COSTUME GALA 2012

I initially started this blog to give my styling work a platform  to show the world my ability but lately, I have been thinking of expanding what this blog offers. I'm really liking the idea of giveaways, celebrity/model spotlights, street style (i can't decide whether i want to feature street style on this blog or dedicate my tumblr to street style shots) "who wore it better", my cool finds, make-up and clothes dupes e.t.c

Today, i present to you some of my best and worst outfits from the MET Costume Gala 2012

BEST DRESSED

Janelle Monae killed it ! oh my gosh, words cannot describe how lovely I think she looks. this is an amazing twist to her usual pant suit. she looks sophisticated, cool, edgy and beautiful.

I LOVE Rihanna, and she can do no wrong in my eyes so my judgement might be a bit clouded. I love this Tom Ford croc style dress and I think it looks lovely on her. However, I wish she wore peep toes or heeled strappy sandals and a back necklace.

When it comes down to dresses, January Jones never goes wrong and this versace dress is no exception . The mad men star paired it with a statement Cartier necklace and looks glamorous. I love the structure and detailing on the dress and the fit is divine.

this outfit is living evidence that less is more. Solange looked absolutely stunning in  this Rachel Roy dress. her accessories, hair and make-up have been kept to a minimum and I think she looks beautiful

Ginnifer Goodwin looked very classy in this Monique Lhuillier gown. This was hands down my favourite dress of the night. I wasn't feeling her hair and shoes as much but on the other hand, the shoes go very well with the outfit. the silhouette of this dress is breath taking. here's hoping that she's voted best dressed on E's fashion police.

WORST DRESSED

I know the Olsen sisters dress to look fashion forward and not necessarily nice but this is devastating. I don't know what is worse between this dress that has no fit or her hair and make-up that makes her look like the walking dead.
P.S is that a bit of Beyonce's dress on the floor?

we know you've lost your baby weight. you don't have to go the extra mile to rub it in our faces. this Givenchy dress is just unnecessary and ugly. The bit on her fingers gives me goose bumps.

I love Marc Jacobs but wow, this outfit, whatever it actually is is just intense.

The blazer is gorgeous but definitely not with that belt, not with that skirt and not to this event. the fact that the belt is on it actually annoys me. she looks like a Nigerian pastors wife from a nollywood movie.
